No matter the time of year, there's always something to do at Whipple Dam State Park. The park is within a quick drive of State College, but it feels worlds apart from the bustling university town. It boasts 256 acres of forests, trails, and sparkling waters to explore.

Come during the warm summer months to do some swimming. Whipple Dam State Park plays host to a beautiful 300-foot sand beach along the lake, which opens at 8 a.m. each day May through September. It's the perfect place to sunbathe and go for a dip without ever leaving Central Pennsylvania. You can also enjoy the lake by bringing your electric motorboat and setting sail or renting a canoe, kayak, or standup paddleboard at the lake. Fishing and hunting are permitted at the park, as well. When wintry temperatures roll in, visitors partake in cross-country skiing, ice-skating, and even ice-fishing at Whipple Dam State Park.
