If you’d rather not spend your St. Paddy’s Day hunkered down in your apartment at Montgomery Pointe in Haverford, consider making the short trip over to McCloskey’s Tavern in Ardmore. This traditional Irish pub has been in business close to eight decades; in fact, it’s known as the oldest Irish pub on the Main Line!

Slide into one of the green leather booths in the wood-bedecked dining, or take a seat at the bar to pore over the menu of modern pub fare. Starters include cheesesteak spring rolls, mozzarella sticks, and hearty salads, while the entrees span roast beef sandwiches, pasta, and burgers. To really get in the spirit of the holiday, order the fish and chips or the Guinness burger, which is topped with Guinness cheddar and bacon. Of course, no St. Patrick’s Day is complete without a pint of Guinness, and McCloskey’s has this—and many more brews—on tap.

In response to the pandemic, the pub is also offering outdoor dining in a heated tent, and takeout is also available.
