Cease the Grease: Why Not to Put Grease or Oil Down the Drain – The main reason why you should never put grease or oil down the drain is that sewage pipes get backed up or damaged and can cause hazardous bacteria to come back up and into your home. A great way to properly dispose of grease or oil is to store them in a container, seal and freeze it and then recycle or dispose in the trash. For more information, please visit ceasethegrease.net which is a campaign that educates residents about why not to put oil or grease down drains and ways to properly dispose of it to avoid plumbing disasters.
