Wine Country no longer refers solely to the Napa Valley or the countryside of Italy—in fact, it may be closer than you think. Your own state of Maryland boasts a roster of up-and-coming wineries, some of them within a short drive of Willowdale Crossing, and Frederick Wine Festival will showcase the cream of the crop on Saturday, June 9th at Carroll Creek Urban Park.

Wineries such as Loew Vineyards from nearby Mount Airy, Big Cork Vineyards from Rohrersville, and The Urban Winery from Silver Spring will set up shop at the festival to showcase their vino during two sessions, the first from noon to 3 p.m. and the second from 4 to 7 p.m. Sample the wine made from Maryland-grown grapes with bites from local vendors like Pizza Llama, The Sweet Farm, and Holy Crepes. Live music and backyard games round out the day at the Frederick Wine Festival. Tickets start at $40 for drinkers and $15 for designated drivers or anyone under 21.
